About Me

Picture of Mrs. Jennifer Cantu

This is my tenth year teaching 8th grade. I previously taught at Edinburg High School for eleven years. Before I was a Bobcat or a Panther, I was a Mission Eagle (Class of '94). Although I had the opportunity to attend college outside of the valley, my heart was in the RGV, so I returned home and attended UT-Pan American, receiving a B.A. in English in 2000.

Working in this school district has granted me many opportunities. I have attended numerous workshops locally and across the country, written curriculum for the district, and worked alongside and learned from some of the best teachers around. I had the distinct honor of representing our school as the Teacher of the Year for the 2015-2016 school year.

As an avid learner myself, I hope to instill in all of my students a lifelong pursuit of knowledge beyond the ELA classroom.

"Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible. Learning is making it possible for yourself."
