Joe De Leon - 6th Grade Principal

“Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.”

Mr. De Leon was not yet ready to enter “the door” and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps while a senior in high school. Realizing the opportunities created by a college education, he began his higher education journey at South Texas Community College after serving in the military. Later transferring to the University of Texas-Pan American, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in December 2003. Looking to further his education, he graduated with his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in December 2018. Not ready to close the door on his education, Mr. De Leon is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Curriculum and Instruction program at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Mr. De Leon was a classroom teacher for 18 years before transitioning to his current role as an administrator at Longoria Middle School.
